Chula Vista mayoral candidate Zaneta Encarnacion supports Republic Sanitation workers strike
CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – Trash continues to pile up in Chula Vista and other parts of San Diego as a result of the Republic Sanitation workers strike.
The workers and Republic Services have still not come to terms on the deal, and it has been nearly a month. The strike started on December 17, 2021, when more than 200 Republic Sanitation workers walked off the job, demanding better pay, better equipment and overall better working conditions.
Fast forward to now, and the City of Chula Vista has declared a public health emergency.
A declaration is expected to be approved at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
Chula Vista mayoral candidate, Zaneta Encarnacion, joined KUSI’s Jenny Milkowski on Good Morning San Diego to discuss the public health emergency, and why she is in support of the Republic Sanitation workers, but not the ongoing strike.
