Chula Vista murder suspect captured near border
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – After evading police for four days, a 38-year-old Chula Vista man wanted for murder was captured Monday in a hotel near the U.S.-Mexico border.
Alejandro Gutierrez was initially spotted last Thursday near Second Avenue and Palomar Street and was able to evade the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Apprehension Team after a search proved unsuccessful. He had been a suspect in an attempted murder case that took place in Chula Vista about two weeks ago.
He was taken into custody at the Knights Inn at 230 Via de San Ysidro by members of the apprehension team.
Gutierrez will likely face charges of attempted murder, carrying a loaded firearm, and various gang-related offenses.
