Chula Vista woman accused of stabbing acquaintance

EL CAJON (CNS) – A Chula Vista woman accused of stabbing an acquaintance while trying to rob him at his East County home must stand trial on an attempted murder charge, a judge ruled Monday.

Lymarie Rodriguez faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted.

El Cajon Superior Court Judge Daniel Goldstein, who ruled that enough evidence was presented for Rodriguez to stand trial, scheduled arraignment for Aug. 27.

The defendant allegedly attacked a man in the 1600 block of Buckeye Drive in El Cajon about 2 a.m. on July 11. Patrol officers responding to a report of a disturbance at the house found the victim suffering from severe wounds, Lt. Frank La Haye said.

Rodriguez, 29, was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries suffered in the alleged assault. On her release, she was booked into Las Colinas women's jail in Santee.

Witnesses told investigators the violence erupted after Rodriguez attempted to rob the victim, the lieutenant said.

In addition to attempted murder, the defendant faces allegations that she personally used a deadly weapon in the attack and caused great bodily injury to the victim, said Deputy District Attorney Nicole Roth.
