City flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Navy Yard shooting victims

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Interim Mayor Todd Gloria Tuesday ordered flags at city
of San Diego facilities to be flown at half-staff to honor victims gunned down
at the Washington Navy Yard.

“Innocent lives of public servants were lost yesterday, and San Diegans
offer our respect, thoughts, and prayers to the families and friends of the
victims,” Gloria said.

A dozen civilian contractors at the Naval Sea Systems Command in
Washington, D.C., were killed by former Navy reservist Aaron Alexis before he
was fatally wounded.

City flags will remain lowered until Friday at sunset.
