Week 5 City Game of the Week Preview: Crawford Colts 3, Francis Parker Lancers 31

Week 5 is complete, as the Jersey Mike’s City Game of the Week was a contest between the visiting Crawford Colts and the undefeated Francis Parker Lancers.

It was the first game under the belt for new Crawford coach Matt Marquez. The Colts offense could never really turn on the burners in this one. Your final score in this sandwich battle, 31-3, Lancers at home.

The first drive of the game for the Lancers resulted in a touchdown from who else but Mr. Do-it-All, Ryan Sanborn. Yes, he kicked the extra points all game long, was the kick off specialist, and got the first tackle of the game for the Lancers. All of this while being involved in all of the three first-half touchdowns.

The Lancers ran the ball all over the Colts with their running backs Sam Camposeco, Trevor Brokowski, and the secret weapon on the night, Carter Horiye.

Jonathan Gordon made a nice snag down the sideline for a 60-yard touchdown.

The Read-Option with Sanborn and whoever they wanted to put next to him in the backfield was a problem unsolved for the Colts.

Russell Childs made the last touchdown of the first half scoring a touchdown receptionfrom 56 yards out.

The Colts in the first half collected seven chain movements. The offense stayed out on the field for four chances the Colts had at Fourth Down. The first drive was a punt. The first three chances on fourth down they were successful.

Malachi Batie had no opportunity to return a kick off as every kick off was a touchback. Raul Reyes was all over the place on Friday night making plays for the Colts on both sides of the ball.

The Jersey Mike’s Player of the Game in this one was Noah Schneider, who had a first-half interception and had a fumble recovery on the night.

Pregame

Week 5 is upon us, and out at Francis Parker High School, the Lancers look to continue their undefeated season against the visiting Colts from Crawford High School.

The Colts are coming off a Week 4 win against San Ysidro High School with the final score 12- 8.

They are 2-1 after having a bye in Week 3. The head coach for the visiting Colts is Michael Wright and the head coach for the Lancers is Matt Morrison. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.

For the Colts of Crawford High School, they are on a two-game win streak. Crawford looks to dominate the line of scrimmage and run the football.

Miguel Estrella, Kevin Luong, and Raul Reyes all contribute to the Colts three-headed rush game. Malachi Batie has set the Crawford offense up with good field position this year.

The Lancers, this season, have moved the ball on offense behind quarterback Ryan Sanborn, throwing the ball and taking off with the pigskin.

Running backs Sam Camposeco and “bro” Trevor Brokowski each have four touchdowns on the season.

Jonathan Gordon looks to make a contribution in the passing game on Friday night. This non-conference matchup will be a good one.
