City of Coronado holds special Memorial Day Service with Gold Star Families
CORONADO (KUSI) – A touching Memorial Day service was held in Coronado today. Several gold star families were in attendance.
This year, as in the past, Star Park was filled with veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces.
“It was my privilege to wear the uniform,” said Bill Hotz, USMC (Ret.).
Hotz, a Vietnam veteran, was a 19 years old lance corporal, machine gunner during the war. On his t-shirt, were the names of his fellow Marines that did not make it back. They were heros, part of the 3rd Batallion 4th Marines.
During the service, several gold star families presented a special tribute to their fallen loved one including the family of Naval Special Warfare Operator First Class Charles Keating IV.
Keating was killed on May 3rd 2016, in Northern Iraq during a firefight.
