Clairemont 48, Southwest SD 0
On Friday night the Southwest Raiders (1-4) made the trip to Clairemont to face the Chieftains (1-4) in Week 6 of the Prep Pigskin Report. The only win of the season for the Chieftains came when they were at home facing the Montgomery Aztecs on September 12th and this Friday night they were able to add another win to their season, making them undefeated at home.
A big part of the success for Clairemont’s offense tonight was the running game. The first score of the game came from running back Dylan Irwin, who had a two-yard touchdown run to put the Chieftains up on the scoreboard 7-0. However, Dylan Irwin was the first of many running backs to have success running down the field tonight. Running back Alessandro Baldessare scored three touchdowns for Clairemont to help them cruise to victory of the Raiders with the final score, Clairemont 48 – Southwest 0.
A tough night for the Southwest Raiders, as they were unable to get anything going on the offensive side of the football and they were unable to stop the Chieftain’s powerful running game. With this loss against Clairemont, Southwest is now 1-5 on the season. Next week, the Raiders will travel to Mar Vista to face the Mariners, who lost to the Sultans 35-21.
As for the Chieftains, this win against the Raiders brings them to a 2-4 record on the season. A record that may sound familiar to them because last year, not only were they 2-4 during this time, but they also made it all the way to the Quarterfinal round of playoffs. Will they be able to finish what they started last year and bring a CIF banner to Clairemont? Next week they take on the University City Centurions at Clairemont. Be sure to tune in next week to the KUSI Prep Pigskin Report, San Diego County’s home for prep football highlights and features!
