Clairemont woman on life support after being assaulted

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Homicide detectives today investigated an assault
inside a Clairemont apartment that left a 53-year-old woman on life support.

The woman was found in distress by her boyfriend and maintenance workers
at the apartment complex in the 3100 block of Cowley Way shortly before 11:30
a.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police Lt. Kevin Rooney.

The boyfriend told investigators he had gone to the apartment after
unsuccessful attempts to reach the woman, and he asked the maintenance workers
to help him get inside the apartment, Rooney said in a statement.

The woman was initially thought to be suffering from a medical condition
and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, Rooney said.

“However, doctors concluded that the woman had suffered traumatic
injury from which she is not expected to recover,” he said without
elaboration.

Her name was withheld pending next of kin notification.

Police asked anyone with information about the assault to contact
homicide detective at (619) 531-2293 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at
(888) 580-8477. Tipsters can choose to remain anonymous.
