Coast Guard turns over more than 28,000 pounds of Cocaine to DEA

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A Coast Guard ship returned to San Diego Thursday carrying a record 14-ton narcotic haul seized from drug traffickers in recent months.

Twenty-eight thousand pounds was impounded during 19 interdictions by U.S. And Canadian forces near Central and South America.

According to the USCG, the contraband would have been worth $424 million in street sales.

More cocaine was seized in the last six months than in all of fiscal year 2014.
