Code Caleb 10 year celebration of life saving program at Tri-City Medical Center
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Ten years ago three-day-old Caleb Peltier arrived unresponsive and barely breathing at Tri-City Medical Center’s Emergency Department and was quickly diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.
The case was a catalyst for the hospital to create Code Caleb, a formal process that ensures all babies 60 days or younger in significant distress receive the same immediate, specialized care that saved Caleb’s life.
After a decade of success with Code Caleb, numerous infants have been saved from Tri-City Medical Center staff’s swift response and succinct care protocol.
Caleb along with several Tri-City Medical Center staff members celebrated his 10th birthday Monday on Zoom on Good Morning San Diego.
