College visit turns tragic for Calif. students

ORLAND, Calif. (AP) – Five high school students and three adult chaperones are among the ten people dead after yesterday's fiery crash involving a FedEx tractor-trailer and a bus carrying more than 40 students on a college visit in Northern California.

The drivers of the bus and the truck also died.

A spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board says a team of highway crash experts left on a flight this morning, headed to the crash scene.

The bus had been chartered by Humboldt State University to bring prospective students for a tour of the campus.

Eleven people were taken to Enloe Medical Center in Chico. Two of those patients were listed in critical condition Friday morning.

At least seven people were hospitalized at other facilities. Two of them were in critical condition and five others in fair condition.
