Comic-Con 2014 weekend will feature sneak peaks and panels

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – The third day of Comic-Con in San Diego will feature sneak peaks of upcoming movies and panels on popular television shows.

Warner Bros. will kick off the schedule with presentations of:

“Jupiter Ascending,” a science fiction thriller staring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.

“Mad Max: Fury Road,” a return to the post-apocalyptic universe with Tom Hardy in the title role, and “The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies,” the final film in The Hobbit Trilogy.

The production company will join DC Comics at 8 p.m. on Saturday for a world premiere screening of the television series “Gotham,” along with looks at other programs.

Panels throughout Saturday will look at the 25th anniversary of “The Simpsons,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Family Guy” and “True Blood.”

Concluding the schedule is the 40th Comic-Con Masquerade, a showcase and awards show for costumes worn by attendees.

Stars scheduled to appear during Saturday include Jessica Alba, who will help promote the film “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For:” Nina Dobrev, who will talk about “The Vampire Diaries” television program; Elle Fanning and Ben Kingsley, who provided voices for the upcoming animated picture “The Boxtroll,” Anna Paquin, who will be part of the “True Blood” panel, and Charlize Theron, who appears in the “Mad Max” film.

Pre-paid parking at the convention center and Hilton Bayfront is sold out.

Free shuttles will run between the convention center and hotels in downtown, Mission Valley, Shelter Island and Harbor Island. Shuttle service will run 24 hours a day until Sunday at 7 p.m.

Organizers encourage attendees to use the San Diego Trolley and the North County Transit District’s Coaster train. The Metropolitan Transit Systems says the Green Line trolley to the convention center and Gaslamp Quarter will run every seven and a half minutes, twice as often as normal.

The trolley system will also offer paperless tickets on its new mticket mobile application.
