Committee members take first steps toward raising water rates

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – At City Hall, committee members took the first steps towards raising water rates again.

This next increase would hit the average home to the tune of $6.48 a month.

The price recycled water would more than double from 80 cents for 748 gallons to $1.73.

It's been a long time since San Diego didn't have to beg for more water and when it comes to conserving, San Diegans are doing a good job, saving more than the state ordered.

Ironically, the more water saved, the less money the city makes and the higher rates go.
