Community HousingWorks to give $30,000 in scholarship money
A nationally recognized nonprofit, Community HousingWorks, is going to be awarding thousands of dollars in scholarship money to support its residents on June 9th.
Elizabeth Alvarez was live in studio with Jorge Riquelme, Senior Vice President of Resident Programs, Community HousingWorks, and Belle Ayala, past VALOR Scholarship Recipient, to discuss the scholarship program.
In two weeks, there will be a celebration highlighting several residents who are living in homes run by Community HousingWorks (CHW) and who are now working toward their post-secondary higher education goals. CHW will be giving out $30,000 in scholarship money towards resident scholars on June 9th during their VALOR celebration.
Community HousingWorks (CHW) is a nationally recognized nonprofit that develops, rehabilitates and operates affordable apartment communities in San Diego and throughout California.
CHW also provides working families and seniors with powerful programs, services and connections to help them attain financial stability.
For our 30th Anniversary, we are awarding a total of $30,000 in scholarship money to 30 resident scholars. The scholarship is open to any resident pursuing post-high school education opportunities, including community colleges, four-year universities, career and technical schools, and the armed forces. The scholarship event on June 9th at the Poway Community Center is a time to recognize the achievements of CHW residents as they work toward their educational and career goals.
Founded in 1988, Community HousingWorks (CHW) is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops, rehabilitates, preserves and operates affordable apartment communities in San Diego and throughout California. They currently have 38 communities and over 3,000 apartments throughout California, and serve over 9,000 residents.
