Community members question school district development deal

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) –  People living in Scripps Ranch were hoping Tuesday night that it wasn’t too late to stop a new apartment complex from being built on land owned by the San Diego Unified School District.

A large new 264-unit apartment project is proposed at the corner of Scripps Poway Parkway and Spring Canyon Road.

The property is owned by the San Diego Unified School District and will be leased to the developer for 66 years. 

The SDUSD School Board is expected to vote on the project in January 2016.
