Confession at Escondido Police Department

A 67-year-old man walked into the Escondido Police
Department early Sunday and told officers he had killed his wife. Officers
found the dead woman where the man had said she would be, a lieutenant said.

The man arrived at the station shortly after 3:30 a.m. and spontaneously
volunteered that he had “killed his wife with a knife,” Escondido police
Lt. Neal Griffin said in a statement.

He took officers to a place where they found a woman, who appeared to be
in her 60s, had been fatally stabbed, apparently as she slept in her bed,
according to Griffin.

Griffin said the investigation was ongoing. No further information,
including any location, was to come from police until the victim's family
members were notified.
