Coronado 19, Hilltop 42
Friday night the Hilltop Lancers were coming into their home game looking to fix a three-game losing streak. Head Coach Tony Isabella from Coronado knew Hilltop’s record was better than it reflected and Hilltop proved it Friday with a win over the Coronado Islanders 42-19.
The Islanders the past two games have now have been outscored 84-19. Hilltop was very successful on fourth down and this team would’ve been just fine without even dressing a punter. The Islanders had no answers early for successful 4th down conversions by Hilltop QB Daniel Sanchez (3 passing TD’s and a rushing TD), who must’ve had his Russell Wilson jersey on underneath his uniform. Sanchez was able to convert a couple of drives turning 4th downs into a Touchdowns. Despite Sanchez’s exit for a drive, he was spectacular tonight. Lancers defense did their job well after last week’s disappointing performance.
Coronado Islanders offense found their connection of Jaeger Bull to Matt Gillingham a good portion of the night but the defense couldn’t get off the field for Coronado.
Coronado is now 3-2 and will play vs La Jolla and Hilltop breaks a three-game losing streak and improves to 2-3 traveling to Otay Ranch next week.
