Councilmember Chris Cate hosts State of the District Address
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Councilmember Chris Cate held the State of the District Address Monday night at AleSmith Brewing Company.
The purpose of the address was to update residents of San Diego’s Council District 6 on accomplishments, current projects and goals for the coming year.
"This past year, we achieved a level of success I could have only imagined. District 6 is innovating and we are accelerating. Ordinary is turning into extraordinary, and it’s happening each and every day," states Councilmember Chris Cate.
With more than 3,000 San Diego children in foster care, Councilmember Cate’s office is also partnering with Sleep Train Foster Kids. State of the District attendees were asked to bring new, unwrapped pajamas to the event. The donated pajamas would be distributed to local foster care agencies.
Councilmember Cate also recognized District 6 residents, nonprofits and businesses who have gone above and beyond to enhance the lives of fellow San Diegans including: Sophia Righthouse (Youth of the Year), Stephen Groce (Community Leader of the Year), Adriana Enloe (Neighborhood Champion of the Year), Vulcan Materials Company (Business of the Year) and Ronald McDonald House Charities (Nonprofit of the Year).
