Crash prompts closure of Southbound I-15 in Scripps Ranch

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – All southbound lanes of Interstate 15 in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego were closed Wednesday evening due to a single-vehicle crash that spread debris across the freeway.

The crash occurred near the state Route 163 exit about 10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses told the CHP the vehicle spun out and ended up on the right shoulder, leaving behind debris in lanes.

There was a report of a man on the ground in the gore point, but that could not be immediately confirmed by authorities.

All southbound lanes of the freeway were blocked at Miramar Way at 10:10 p.m., Caltrans said. There was no indication when the lanes would reopen.
