Darren Sproles Empowered Youth Camp
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – For the 3rd year former Chargers running back and current Philadelphia eagles running back Darren Sproles and his wife Michel are hosting the Sproles Empowered Youth Life-Skills and Football Camp at San Diego State. The camp features over 50 campers and three days of classroom as well skills workshops. One of the kids favorite parts about the camp is the 7 on 7 charity game. Kids are given the opportunity to line up against current and former NFL players.
“It’s an honor to get this opportunity to play against NFL stars that have proved themselves,” says Mt. Miguel senior Michael Jones.
As much as it is a reward for the campers it’s also a reward for the professionals.
“When I was this age I wish I had this kind of thing going on. To be able to help out and be a part of it is fun and to see them looking up to me is really encouraging,” says Brandin Cooks of the New Orleans Saints.
There was definitely competition going on between the pros and campers but at the end of the day the experience is one neither shall soon forget.
“Score a touchdown on the pros? I would get bragging rights for like two years,” says Cathedral freshman Shawn Poma.
