Dave Stall: Ramona Air Fair Fly-In and Car Show

A great event for all ages is coming to Ramona next weekend. It’s the Ramona Air Fair Fly-In and Car Show!

Jason Austell met with Dave Stall and Alan Cutsinger to talk about the event.

Celebrating 23 years in 2018, the Ramona Air Fair & Fly-In is an annual one-day public event held the first weekend of October at Ramona Airport (RNM), located at 2926 Montecito Road, Ramona, CA 92065. Sponsored by the County of San Diego and Chase Airport Management, Inc., it is organized by a team of aviation enthusiasts whose driving purpose is to involve the local community at their local airport, promising adults and children alike a day full of fun and learning as they immerse themselves in aviation. Its team keeps with the tradition of making it very family-friendly and affordable, with free admission, parking, and many kid’s activities.
With activities* being added every year, spectators can look forward to flight demonstrations, airplane, helicopter, and classic car displays, tours of the Control Tower, local businesses and aviation organizations, great food, live country music, free kid’s activities, raffles, and much more. The oldest air attack base in the California Department of Forestry, the Ramona Air Attack Base itself undoubtedly remains one of the major attractions of the event, with its fire-fighting OV-10 Bronco (see above) and Grumman S-2 Trackers on site for public viewing.
Pilots are always encouraged to fly in for the day and join in on the fun. The airport and facilities remain open for the duration of the event. Its ideal climate and uncomplicated airspace makes it truly an ideal destination for the $100 hamburger all year round.
