Dead man found in rest area near Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) – A motorist who pulled off Interstate 5 into the Aliso Creek Rest Area Friday found a dead man beside a parked pickup truck.

The grim discovery in the Camp Pendleton area was reported about 3:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

There were no immediate indications of any criminal activity related to the death of the unidentified man, CHP public-affairs Officer Robert Catano said.

The rest stop was closed to allow sheriff’s deputies to investigate, Catano said.
