Debris on the 805 freeway shuts down multiple lanes

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – Pieces of wood and other debris strewn along a stretch of Interstate 805 in Chula Vista Wednesday morning prompted authorities to temporarily close several lanes and issue a SigAlert.

Calls to the California Highway Patrol about wood and bags hindering traffic in the two right southbound freeway lanes at Telegraph Canyon Road began coming in shortly after 8:30 a.m. Authorities did not immediately say where the debris came from.

The fallen debris led to two southbound lanes being closed while the cleanup was underway, but they were later reopened, according to Caltrans and the CHP.
