Defense Attorney Tim Parlatore discusses what’s next for Eddie Gallagher after sentencing
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Earlier Wednesday, a military panel recommended to reduce Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher in rank to E-6 Petty Officer First Class.
The panel suggested a four month sentence, but the judge felt that was excessive and reduced it to two months. Gallagher was given credit for time already served, and tonight, Eddie Gallagher is a free man. But, he will also be docked more than $2,600 a month for two months.
The Navy SEAL spoke to the panel before sentencing. He expressed gratitude for the not guilty verdicts and apologized for taking the picture with the ISIS fighter’s corpse and said he would learn from his mistakes.
Eddie Gallagher also expressed remorse for bringing the SEALs and Marines into these legal proceedings.
After leaving the courtroom, Gallagher was visibly upset about the loss in rank and did not speak to reporters. He and his wife, Andrea, got in a car and left.
President Trump tweeted a congratulations to the Gallagher family earlier Wednesday.
The verdict may be in, but Eddie Gallagher’s sentencing is still in question.
Wednesday night, Gallagher’s lead attorney Tim Parlatore came in to the KUSI studio to tell us what’s next for Gallagher’s sentencing live on the KUSI News.
