Del Mar City Council approves moratorium on short-term rentals

DEL MAR (KUSI) – The Del Mar City Council voted Monday night to halt short-term rentals, at least for the time being.

The main concern from people living there was that people in the short-term rentals make too much noise and leave a mess behind.

Some say they purchased their homes with the assumption they could rent them out in the summer months.

So, this new halt on short-term rentals is causing a divide among people living in Del Mar.

This moratorium only stops new short-term rentals from operating within the city limits of Del Mar.

Current short-term rentals are allowed to continue to operate until the Del Mar City Council can adopt new city ordinances.
