Del Mar hiring part-time deputies to enforce wearing of masks
DEL MAR (KUSI) – The City of Del Mar is stepping up its enforcement of mask wearing for people in the city.
The City Council agreed to hire part-time deputies to work two days a week for the next four months to enforce the public health order.
Violators may be prosecuted as a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $1,000.
Del Mar City Councilmember, David Druker, discussed the new hiring program and decision to enforce mask wearing in the city on KUSI News.
Druker explained they are “asking the County of San Diego to change their public health order. The Public Health Order is a little ambiguous in terms of I can wear a mask, or I can social distance.” Druker and the Del Mar City Council wants the county to change the public health order to say “masks are mandatory.”
