Del Norte 20, RBV 17

The Del Norte Nighthawks squeaked past the Ranch Buena Vista Longhorns 20-17 on a rare Thursday night game.  The Nighthawks took the lead on a Grayson Farnham 25 yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining.  Longhorns’ Junior Perez made things interesting with a long kick off return after the score but he could only make his way to the Nighthawk 30 when he was brought down.

Silver Pigskin watch lister Quenton Meeks came up big for Del Norte with 94 yards receiving including a 50 yard reception late in the fourth quarter to help lead Del Norte down the field for the game winning score.  Quarterback Parker Lappin was instrumental in the Nighthawks’ success Thursday night as well.  He started the scoring with a 65 yard touchdown run on a broken play.  Out of the backfield Kayden Clements scored Del Norte’s second touchdown early in the fourth quarter.  Clements ended the day with 85 yards on 15 carries.

For Rancho Buena Vista it was the combination of Alex Perez, Junior Perez, and Matt Doyle on the ground that kept the Longhorns in the game.  Alex Perez scored both of RBV’s touchdowns and ended the night with 77 yards on 20 carries.

Del Norte’s record is now 4-5 and as of now they are still on the outside looking in on the playoffs. Rancho Buena Vista is now 1-8.
