Del Norte 29, Fallbrook 21

After a fairly cagey affair, the Del Norte Nighthawks (5-5) beat the Fallbrook Warriors (7-3) by a score of 29-21. Both teams will be heading to the playoffs after playing their last regular game of the season.

The game started very slow as both teams were testing each other with no real outcome. After several minutes of the 1st quarter came the first score of the game, Parker Roberson converting a 24-yard FG for the Warriors.

Early in the 2nd quarter the Nighthawks got on the board, when Parker Lappin found Montrice Johns with a 14-yard pass for a TD. The Warriors quickly answered with a 14- yard FG. Minutes later Parker Lappin found Quenton Meeks- 2014 Silver Pigskin nominee- with a 22 yard pass for a TD, putting the Nighthawks up 14-6 going into the half.

The game heated up in the 4th quarter, when Roberto Ramirez scrambled across the field to get a 12- yard TD run for the Warriors. In a matter of minutes, the Nighthawks responded through Kayden Clements with a 53- yard TD reception. The Warriors were pinned on the 1-yard line immediately after the kickoff. The ball was snapped and instantly fumbled, allowing Scott McKirdy to get the Nighthawks on the board with an end zone recovery. Towards the end, the Warriors picked up a TD through Roberto Ramirez, but it was too little too late.

The Nighthawks took full advantage of the Warriors’ four turnovers on the night, pushing them to victory.
