DeMaio throws hat into ring
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Councilman Carl DeMaio has kicked off his campaign for the job of mayor of San Diego with a dismissal of city government as being in a state of “deficit, dysfunction and disrepair.”
“We have a comprehensive plan to fix San Diego's financial problems and make city government work again for the people — and I'm running for mayor so we can implement that plan,” he told a crowd of supporters in Rancho Bernardo Sunday.
The plan to which DeMaio referred was an 80-page “Roadmap to Recovery” that he released in November as a blueprint to reform city government and restore services.
“Unfortunately, the dreams of our city have been held hostage because our city government is in a complete state of deficit, dysfunction and disrepair,” he said.
