Democratic presidential debate preview

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – It’s the Democrats turn to duke it out on stage at the party’s first debate, happening Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. PST in Las Vegas.

A new CNN poll shows Hillary Clinton has 50 percent among those likely to caucus in Nevada.

Her nearest rival, Bernie Sanders, stands at 34 percent.

The three other challengers taking part in Tuesday’s debate are Martin O’Malley, Lincoln Chafee and Jim Webb.

"For each of these candidates, they have to define themselves, and the public understands that every election is about the future, and that’s what they want to hear about," said Robert Zimmer, Democratic Strategist.

If Vice President Joe Biden decides to join the race, there is a sixth podium waiting for him in Vegas.

Prior to the debate, San Diego County Democratic Party Chairwoman, Francine Busby, sat down with KUSI to give her insight.
