Dispelling pit bull myths in honor of Pit Bull Awareness Month

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – October is Pit Bull Awareness Month, and last Saturday was National Pit Bull Awareness Day.

Pit bulls often times get a bad reputation, but they are among the most popular dogs in America today. They make wonderful companions and require a lot of training, exercise and enrichment in order to thrive. Because of their love of all things human, pit bulls will consider strangers their friends as much as they consider family as friends.

Elkie Wills, Director of Community Engagement at the San Diego Humane Society, and Nichole Condon, Canine Ambassador Volunteer at the San Diego Humane Society, were in studio to tell us more.
