District Attorney releases video of man shooting assault rifle around San Ysidro RV park

SAN YSIDRO (KUSI) – Body cam footage of a man shooting an AK-47 around a San Ysidro RV park was released by the District Attorney today.

This happened on April 3, 2019 and helicopter footage shows 50-year-old Alfonso Cervantes walking through the lot.

Officers ordered Cervantes to put down the weapon, but he refused.

Police shot the man, and he died at the scene.

The District Attorney’s Office determined the officer fired at Cervantes in his own defense. Testing shows Cervantes was under the influence of methamphetamine.
