Division II Championship: Lincoln Hornets 23, Mira Mesa Marauders 3

The San Diego Section CIF Division 2 title will at Southwestern College on Friday night will come down to (7) Mira Mesa and (5) Lincoln (9-4) at 7:00 PM Friday night.

The Marauders making just their 3rd appearance in a CIF title game and and first since 2010, the Marauders have yet to win a title.  While the Lincoln Hornets are no stranger to the CIF Football title game winning eight championships which is seventh best in the San Diego Section, the last one Coming in 2012 when they beat Ramona 42-14..

The Marauders are lead by first year head coach Chris Thompson, who spent several years as an assistant coach at “The Mecca” before becoming head coach at Bonita Vista High School leading them to the Division 3 CIF title in 2015 and an appearance in the state championship game. And he has a special athlete to work with in southpaw quarterback Noah Tumblin who is coming off a four touchdown performance in the Marauders semi-final win at Valley Center.  Tumblin is dual threat quarterback, showing off both his legs and arm in throwing for two, and running for two more touchdown last Friday night.

Lincoln features several division one prospects, highlighted Don Chapman who recently decommitted from Colorado after the Buffaloes head coach Mike MacIntyre was fired.  He averages 147 total yards per game between, returning punts and kicks as well as rushing and receiving.  They also have two other dynamic player in Jahmahd “Peanut” Monroe (52 Rec., 1192, yards, 13 TD’S) as well as Keyshawn Smith (36 Rec., 715 Yards, 10 TD’s).  Throwing these guys the ball, Sophomore QB Raymond Springs Jr. who has thrown 18 TD passes in 2018.
