Division V Championship: Orange Glen Patriots 34, Francis Parker Lancers 14

The Division Five CIF championship features the Francis Parker Lancers (11-1) taking on the Orange Glen Patriots. (8-3).

This promises to be an emotional night for Orange Glen as they have not won a divisional title in 51 years. Francis Parker will have to contain work horse running back Cael Patterson who over three hundred carries has never fumbled.

For Orange Glen the challenge will be shutting down the dynamic duo that is quarterback Ryan Sanborn throwing to his favorite receiver Jonathan Gordon.

The Patriots get on the board first with a short run by Patterson; they widen the lead with a 81-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Villalobos to Moray Stewart.

On the first play of the second half, Orange Glen’s Christian Gonzalez-Torres scores with the pick-six. Then minutes later Dylan Ewing Villalobos pulls off yet another pick-six to make it 27-7 Patriots.

In the fourth quarter Parker’s Sam Camposeco with the short touchdown run to make it 27-14 Orange Glen.

Minutes later Cael Patterson makes a nice run for his second touchdown of the game, as the Patriots win by the score of 34-14 and win their first divisional title in 51 years!!!

PREVIEW – The Division Five match-up features the Orange Glen Patriots (8-3) taking on the Francis Parker Lancers (11-1).

This will be a ground game versus aerial attack match-up because of the following: Orange Glen is a running team. They are led by Cael Patterson who has wracked up a total of close to 2,000 yards including 27 touchdowns. He has averaged almost 200 yards per game. Sophomore quarterback Ethan Villalobos has done well at only 5’9 “ and 140 pounds!

On defense the Patriots are led by Julian Lesa…6’ 215 lbs….who has 65 solo tackles.

The Lancers’ aerial attack is led by quarterback Ryan Sandborn who has wracked up 27 touchdowns. One of his favorite targets is Jonathan Gordon who has caught 22 touchdown passes, averaging close to 25 yards per catch. On defense Sam Composeco has been a leader with 36 solo tackles.
