Domestic dispute involving off-duty officer leads to death of 33-year-old man
EL CAJON (CNS) – Sheriff's homicide detectives Monday were investigating the death of a 33-year-old man following a domestic dispute with the mother of his 2-year-old son at an El Cajon-area mobile home park.
The man went to drop off the child at the Rancho Valley Mobile Home Park, near Old Highway 8, around 8 p.m. Sunday and got into a dispute with the child's 28-year-old mother, according to San Diego County homicide sheriff's Lt. Dennis Brugos told reporters.
The woman, who lives there, came out of her home and confronted the man about his driving reckless with the child, Brugos said.
The confrontation then allegedly turned physical as the man began pushing the woman into the cab of his pickup truck. The woman's boyfriend — a corrections officer — and her 16-year-old brother came out to help her and a fight ensued, he said.
The child's father was lying on the pavement when paramedics arrived. They took him to a hospital, where he died shortly after midnight, Brugos said. The cause of death was under investigation.
