Donald Trump gets major endorsement from retired military leaders
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — A group of U.S. military leaders, generals and admirals are now saying between Trump and Clinton, Trump would make the best commander in chief.
Hillary Clinton is running TV and internet ads, painting Donald Trump as a crazy man, who we can’t have with his finger on the nuclear button.
But the 88 retired military leaders who issued a statement together Tuesday see it much differently.
They said America needs a course correction in our national security and Trump is our man.
The military leaders, led by Rear Admiral Charles Williams and Major General Sidney Shachnow, say under President Obama, the U.S. has been weakened and our enemies emboldened.
They say Clinton will mean more of the same policies. Clinton, right away, shot back with her continuing attacks on Trump, claiming his entire campaign has abandoned veterans.
"His whole campaign has been one long insult to all those who have worn the uniform to protect our most cherished American values," Clinton said.
But Trump said, this list of military leaders endorsing him is telling a different story.
"We really appreciate all of those generals and admirals that, today, endorsed me. We have a — almost 90 — and these are our fighters. These are our fighting generals," Trump said.
Some of those on the list have been quoted by other news organizations, saying the support for Trump is qualified and they are listening every day to what he says and could easily pull their support.
But for now, they are on board.
