Donald Trump in town for Rancho Santa Fe fundraiser

RANCHO SANTA FE (KUSI) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was in San Diego Wednesday, but this visit was dramatically different from the last time he was here.

Trump landed in San Diego around 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and went straight to a very private event at the Del Mar Country Club.

Trump was here to raise money because, he said, the party wanted him too. He said the party wanted him to raise money to not only secure the presidency, but for the Senate and House as well.

It was rumored that Trump might announce his vice president pick at the event, but he announced on Twitter that he would make the announcement on Friday in New York.

So far, he’s raised $63.5 million, about $250 million less than his counterpart Hillary Clinton, who’s raised just over $300 million.

To make up the difference, he’s taking his platform to Bel Air in Los Angeles after his stop in San Diego.
