Donald Trump is visiting San Diego for major fundraiser

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — In less than 24 hours, presidential candidate Donald Trump will be in San Diego.

The presumptive Republican nominee won’t be mingling with the public though. He’ll be the guest of honor at a very private event and one that costs a pretty-penny.

Trump will be in Rancho Santa Fe Wednesday evening, talking to a small group of wealthy donors at the Del Mar County Club.

These folks are dishing out lots of money for one night of access.

Trump is fundraising, he says, because the party wants him to. They want him to raise money to not only secure the presidency, but the Senate and House as well.

So far, he’s raised $63.5 million, about $250 million less than his counterpart Hillary Clinton, who’s raised just over $300 million.

To make up the difference, he’s taking his platform to Bel Air in Los Angeles and Rancho Sante Fe in San Diego.

Before you think attending the fundraiser would be a good idea, just to get through the door, you need a minimum of $25,000.

That amount is just for dinner and a picture.

It won’t get you to the VIP meeting. That VIP meeting with Trump will cost upwards of $100,000 and if you and your spouse want to dish out nearly $900,000, you’re in the presidential trust.

Only about 50 people are expected to attend.

So this will be an intimate setting. But everyone is pretty sure someone in the room will ask Trump who he’s choosing for vice president.

It’s anticipated he’ll announce his choice next week, but folks Wednesday night could be the first to know.
