Downed power line leaves over 1,000 SDG&E customers without power

SANTEE (KUSI) — A downed power pole left nearly 1,000 San Diego Gas and Electric customers without power Sunday.

The pole was reported to have fallen about 11 a.m. onto an apartment complex on Rosemonde Lane in Santee, Colleen Windsor of SDG&E said.

Contrary to earlier reports of a small fire sparked by the fallen pole, Windsor said there was no fire.

There were initially over 2,000 customers without power in the Santee and Lake Murray areas, Windsor said, but that number had fallen to 965 by 4 p.m.

Mission Gorge Road was closed for a time because of the incident, but reopened after about three hours, according to San Diego Sheriff’s Lt. Matthew Glisson.

Traffic signals were still out in the area, and were not expected to be back online until about 6 p.m., Glisson said.
