Downtown bank robbery
A man who allegedly robbed a bank, then fled, was being
sought by police Saturday.
It happened at 1:09 p.m. at Wells Fargo Bank at 610 1st Ave. near the
Gaslamp Quarter, according to San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali.
“The suspect handed a teller a demand note, was given an undisclosed
amount of money, then fled the bank northbound on 1st Avenue,” Cali said.
Cali said a weapon was not seen on the suspect.
The suspect was described as a black man in his 30s, 5-feet 8-inches to
6-foot tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds with green eyes and a mustache.
He was wearing sunglasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt with possibly a hat
underneath, black-and-white striped shorts and white knee socks with SD on
them.
No one was injured.
The robbery unit is investigating the incident.
