Dr. Fauci now endorses social distancing at 3 feet in schools
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Dr. Anthony Fauci is backing a new study recommending reducing COVID related physical distancing guidelines for in-person learning from six feet, to three feet in the classroom.
The Massachusetts study found, “no significant difference in coronavirus spreading between six feet of distancing versus three feet.”
Up until now, the six feet standard has become one of the largest hurdles most schools face as they look toward reopening in accordance with the CDC’s health and safety guidelines.
Some districts, like San Diego Unified, are demanding more, but reducing the distancing is sure to help speed up the reopening process.
Currently, the CDC guidance stipulates “at least 6-foot” physical distance between school students, but they are analyzing the new study, and the guidelines could once again change.
