Dr. Victory reacts to Cal/OSHA’s continued mask mandate

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Cal/OSHA Board voted to continue the mask mandate for California businesses past the June 15 reopening, much to the chagrin of myriad residents and businesses.

Dr. Kelly Victory, Emergency and Public Health Specialist, joined KUSI’s Jason Austell to discuss her reaction to the board’s vote.

There’s no reason to keep the mask mandate, Dr. Victory said, stating that masks, even N95 masks, must be fitted to one’s face in order to be effective.

Dr. Victory further clarified by saying that face masks worn by healthcare workers during surgeries and the like are to prevent splatter, rather than respiratory illnesses.
