“Drag Queen Story Hour” program receives backlash from residents
CHULA VISTA (KUSI) – Parents and faith leaders across the country are pushing back against a new program called “Drag Queen Story Hour.”
The program began in San Francisco four years ago and has since spread to 40 cities around the country, with drag queens reading to children at libraries, book stores, museums and coffee shops.
It’s the first of its kind in Chula Vista and it’s drawing criticism from residents and religious organizations in the area.
The library’s website describes the program as “a way to learn the history of Drag while encouraging acceptance, being yourself and loving who you are.”
