Drake, JuJu, and Travis Scott play ‘Fortnite’ with ‘Ninja’, break record
LOS ANGELES (KUSI) — Grammy Award-winning rapper Drake helped Twitch break its record for the most-viewed stream by joining gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins to play “Fortnite.”
There were 630,000 concurrent viewers at its peak on the live-streaming platform Wednesday, beating the previous record of 388,000 viewers for a single-play stream.
The rapper and singer says he’s been playing the popular video game for a month or two.
He played with “Ninja” and then they were joined by rapper Travis Scott and Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
According to Forbes, 26 year-old Fortnite legend “Ninja” earns a monthly income of at least $350,000 a month from Twitch subscriptions alone. Forbes says this estimate is a “low-ball” and his actual monthly income is more likely closer to $560,000 a month. “Ninja” currently has over 3,500,000 followers on the platform, averaging about 70,000 viewers for each of his videos.
The squad took the internet by storm, the top four trending topics on Twitter were all related to the Fortnite squad.
