Driver arrested after fleeing from police, crashing into cars in Mountain View

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A motorist was arrested Thursday morning after leading officers on a short pursuit that ended in a crash in the Mountain View area, damaging at least six vehicles parked near an intersection, police said.

The chase started in the 4000 block of Imperial Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. when officers attempted to stop the driver for an expired registration, San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez said.

The motorist sped off, then crashed into vehicles near the intersection of Ocean View Boulevard and South 36th Street around three minutes later, Martinez said.

The motorist ran off, but officers were able to track him down and take him into custody, he said.

No information about the driver was immediately available.

Two passengers in the pursuit vehicle were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Martinez said.
