Driver at large after fatal hit and run of UCSD professor
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Authorities Monday released a more detailed description of a car involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a UC San Diego professor on a Rancho Bernardo roadside over the weekend.
Anouchka Mihaylova, 62, was walking on a sidewalk in the 11800 block of Rancho Bernardo Road with her husband when a westbound silver- or pewter-colored 2005 or 2006 Nissan Altima jumped the curb and hit her shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police. She died at the scene, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver fled following the crash, leaving behind a broken-off side-view mirror. The car also was believed to have sustained front-end damage, including a dislodged passenger-side spoiler.
