Driver crashes into fire hydrant shooting water into the air

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A driver hit a fire hydrant in Encinitas early Saturday morning and caused a huge geyser of water that shot 70 feet into the air.

Police said the driver fell asleep and then crashed at Country Haven and Mountain Vista.

Police said alcohol was not a factor and no charges were filed.

The water was shut off after about 10 minutes.
