Elderly woman and child extricated from vehicle after crashing into yard of La Mesa home

LA MESA (KUSI) — A elderly woman and a 4-year-old boy had to be extricated from their vehicle Tuesday after they crashed into the yard of a home at Yale and Orien Avenue in La Mesa.

According to La Mesa Fire, they received a call at 4:45 p.m. of a vehicle that had crashed and rolled into the yard of a home.

The home owner, Aaron Mars, was home at the time of the accident and said neighbors and people passing by rushed over to help.

"A neighbor and a couple of people passing by broke the back window and pulled out a 4-year-old boy. Then the cops and emergency services came … it wasn’t until the emergency crews came that they got the driver out," Mars said.

Two ambulances were called to the scene, but one was canceled.

The extent of injuries and details surrounding the incident were unknown.
