Driver feels pain in ribs, finds bullet hole

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A University of San Diego student was shot in her rib cage, apparently while driving on state Route 163 Tuesday morning, police said.

The woman called police at 7:37 a.m. to report that she was driving in the fast lane on the southbound side of the freeway near Balboa Avenue when she felt a pain in her right side, according to San Diego police spokesman Detective Gary Hassen.

She said she kept driving to USD, where she stopped and placed her call to police, Hassen said.

Officers found a bullet hole in the passenger-side door of her vehicle, Hassen said. No description of the suspect vehicle was available.
