Driver suspected of drug influence strikes pedestrian in San Ysidro

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A speeding driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs struck and seriously injured a 27-year-old man who was walking on a sidewalk in San Ysidro, a police officer said Thursday.

A 27-year-old woman was driving a Honda sedan at a high rate of speed in the 4400 block of Camino de la Plaza near New Orleans Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and veered off the roadway, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.

The sedan struck the victim on the south sidewalk, which left him with two fractured legs, Delimitros said.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs following the crash, Delimitros said. Her name was not immediately available.
